Après la panne des réseaux sociaux, il y a quelques jours, c’est le tour de l’Internet. Des sites data.gouv, du musée de l’Air et de l’Espace, Interflora, du Centre Pompidou, ou encore de l’aéroport de Strasbourg ont été temporairement inaccessibles, ce jour. Nouvel incident chez OVH. L’hébergeur de sites web français a connu une panne dans la matinée de ce mercredi 13 octobre, empêchant l’accès pendant plusieurs dizaines de minutes à plusieurs sites. D’après le site Downdetector, la panne a commencé aux alentours de 9h pour un retour à la normale vers 10h30 (heure béninoise). Le président d’OVHCloud, Octave Klaba, a indiqué sur compte Twitter que la panne était d’origine « humaine durant la reconfiguration » du réseau aux États-Unis. Plus précisément, le problème se situerait au niveau de la « backbone », a expliqué Octave Klaba, un terme qui « fait référence aux routeurs chargés d’organiser le transfert de données entre les serveurs. », a précisé BFMTV.
« Ces derniers jours, l’intensité des attaques DDoS (attaques par déni de service, ndlr) a beaucoup augmenté. Nous avons décidé d’augmenter notre capacité de traitement de DDoS en ajoutant de nouvelles infrastructures (…). Une mauvaise configuration du routeur a provoqué la panne du network. »

Le président d’OVHCloud est allé plus loin dans ses explications. « Ces derniers jours, l’intensité des attaques DDoS (attaques par déni de service, ndlr) a beaucoup augmenté. Nous avons décidé d’augmenter notre capacité de traitement de DDoS en ajoutant de nouvelles infrastructures (…). Une mauvaise configuration du routeur a provoqué la panne du network. », a ajouté le patron de la firme dans un deuxième tweet.
Une mauvaise nouvelle pour l’entreprise française qui doit entrer en bourse le vendredi 15 octobre prochain et qui s’ajoute à la panne géante qui a fait suite à l’incendie du data-center à Strasbourg le 10 mars dernier. L’entreprise a été créée en 1999 sous le nom d’OVH. Elle a commencé par faire de l’hébergement de sites internet, avant de se lancer dans les services « cloud » pendant la décennie 2010. Avec quelques rares autres acteurs, elle porte les espoirs du cloud européen face aux géants américains et chinois de ce secteur devenu stratégique pour l’économie numérique. Indiquons que le dernier chiffre d’affaires publié date de 2019 (600 millions d’euros). Le groupe compte 2450 collaborateurs, dont la moitié en France, et opère 32 centres de données dans le monde. Selon le site spécialisé sur les études sur les technologies d’internet W3Techs, OVH est utilisé par 3,2% des sites internet.
